National Science Resources Center
Dow is a sponsor of the National Science Resources Center (NSRC). Formed in 1987, this affiliation incorporates all the major elements and criteria for reform efforts – student learning, teacher professional development, parental involvement, coalitions, early intervention, systemic change, and hands-on learning.
Through hands-on learning experiences, Dow strives to help our most valuable resource: children, who perform more competitively, think creatively and reason critically. The NSRC developed the models for implementing the program in local communities and also develops science modules for grades K-8. Each teaching module contains the materials for a project that can be taught in six to eight weeks. National Science Resources Center (NSRC), established in 1985 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is an organization of the Smithsonian Institution and the National Academies. Through its parent organizations, the NSRC has actively engaged the scientific, engineering, and education communities in all of its programs. NSRC is an organization that continues to reach out to new school districts through the Leadership Assistance for Science Education Reform (LASER) initiative. The NSRC also extends its work internationally through the National Academies and the Inter Academy Panel (IAP). |
